  1. East and Southeast Asia By: Baba Qazi Alex Lemaire

  2. East/South East Asia Terraced farming allows farmers to use previously unusable land by planting their crops sideways, on the side of hills and mountains. Japan has adapted to its location with the use of water gauges, sea walls, building codes and pilings. The Great Wall of China isolated the nation, decreasing its trade and forcing the citizens to make their own culture. China’s isolation has been caused through mountains, deserts and the Great Wall.

  3. HEI in E/SE Asia • Modifications to the regions lack of arable land is terraced farming and land reclamation. • Terraced farming can be done in a developing area while land reclamation needs a developed economy structure. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB9N-dCW8jM 3

  4. Population in E/SE Asia China • China is a greatly overpopulated country. The Chinese government has to quickly alter its old population controlling policies because it is contributing to the countries economic and social life, and if it continues, China could face a huge crisis in the future. • China has enforced the One Child Policy which allows rural families to have two children and urban families to have one child. They hope to keep the population controlled with this plan.

  5. Religion in E/SE Asia • Confucianism- Located in China and they believe in ancestry. • Buddhism- Located in Japan and they believe in the 4 Noble Truths. • Shinto- Also located in China and they believe in spirits and animals. 3 Eastern/Southeastern Asia Religions

  6. Communism in E/SE Asia 1917 1949 1953 Korean War ended and North Korea was under control of communist China. Communist leaders create Soviet Union and Communist begins. Soviet Union comes to the aid of China after the Chinese Civil War and takes over, making China communist. • The people of communist countries have no freedoms. The government controls everything in the country. The economy is also terrible because of communism. Communism Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYTwQ3hqMdI

  7. Conclusion-Problems • Economic- The communist government puts the economy in a poor state, and with this government, the economies of several countries will continue to be poor. • Political- The government will continue to control everything and the problems will continue to stay the same, if not increase. The leaders of these nations are not helping the progress of the country in any possible way. • Social- None of the people of these countries have freedoms. Their lives are controlled completely by the government and because of this, these people have no way of how to stabilize their lives on their own. This is horrible for the current generation and the upcoming because they have no control over their lives.

  8. Conclusion- Solutions • Economic- The economic state of countries could be changed by the communist nation increasing global trade and letting it’s citizens have more power. • Political- The political problems of these countries lie in the communist foundations of them. Allowing elections and more human rights would greatly help this problem. • Social- Not only are the human rights of these countries terrible they can barely be found if any at all. Allowing more control by the people and improving the political and economic status’ of these countries could eliminate these problems. The greying and overpopulation could be solved with more government kept laws and incentive to the people.
