Point of View. 1 st Person. The narrator is a part of the story; telling the story from his or her experience. 3 rd Person. The narrator is not one of the characters but tells how the characters feel. The reader learns about the characters from the narrator. Limited Omniscient.

  2. 1st Person • The narrator is a part of the story; telling the story from his or her experience.

  3. 3rd Person • The narrator is not one of the characters but tells how the characters feel. The reader learns about the characters from the narrator.

  4. Limited Omniscient • The narrator’s knowledge is limited to one character, either major or minor.

  5. Omniscient • The narrator knows everything about all the characters. *All knowing

  6. Subjective • The author brings opinions, world view, and knowledge into the interpretation of what’s happening in the story.

  7. Objective • Writer tells what happens without revealing what the characters think or feel.

  8. Hints • Know- Who’s telling the story? • How much is this person allowed to know? • To what extent (how much) does the author look inside the characters and report their thoughts and feelings?
