  1. Jesus – a model for christian life

  2. Analyse the story of Jesus as a model for Christian life • The story of Jesus is a model for Christian life because of his statements, behavior, teaching and promises. Christians believe that jesus is the source of life in this worldly existence as well as salvation in life after death. This is partly due to prophecies from the Old Testament, the crucifixion and resurrection and also the miraculous life and teachings of Jesus. It is also partly due to the belief in his promises and prophecy about life with his spirit and in the future in Heaven.

  3. Exampes from the Bible of Jesus as a model John 14:6 “Jesus answered “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Acts 4:12 Peter states “Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved’. Matthew 28:18-20 “Then Jesus came to them and said ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  4. This support means that Christians are not required to live their life on their own. They have God in the person of Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help them. While modeling a life is not required for salvation, the following of the example and style of Jesus is believed by Christians to be the most appropriate way to behave and live life.

  5. Analyse the death and ressurrection of Jesus as a focus for Christians • Jesus was killed for the political and social convenience of the religious and authorities of the time as well as the Roman rulers. Jesus was certainly not the only person to be killed by the process of crucifixion but he is the one remembered today. The teachings of Jesus was feared because they were expected to lead to the removal of the social or economic power of the priesthood. It was his passion for God, love and justice which led to his execution. Unlike most other victims of suffering and in spite of understanding the torture to come, Jesus went knowingly to his death. We know this from the Gospel passages and Paul’s letters.

  6. The resurrection of Jesus is one of the most fundamental and important concepts of faith for Christianity. Unlike the life story of Jesus, the resurrection is not a testable piece of historical fact. There is no eyewitness account of the process and no historical supporting evidence, but the idea of a resurrection is faith based. If Jesus lived after the crucifixion – then did he die? The empty tomb does not necessarily support or disprove the claims of the disciples. Regardless of historical uncertainty, the experiences of the disciples are accepted by Christians.

  7. The death of Jesus is an invitation or even an instruction to extend a non violent response into healing and love for others following His example and teaching. This is most often described in the behavior change in Christians. Sine express a necessity to develop a future of reconciliation which includes forgiveness and peace for the world. This is become compassion is greater than violence. While all Christians learn that God is love, the story of the resurrection is the definitive story of the God od love and the revealed character of God with humanity.
