  1. Guatemala Reflections To: Rachel From: Maria Lopez, Salena Yang ,Cameron Tucker, and Arley Andrews

  2. Maria's Reflections • What surprised me is that that some people are so poor in Guatemala; that houses are so small; that they ride on bikes more instead of cars or they walk more; and that some people live in the landfills. • I still want to know more about how the police officers from Guatemala act; what schools look like in Guatemala; if the stores in Guatemala have cool stuff; and if parts of Guatemala are dangerous. • My favorite parts of the Guatemala Real-World project were the parks, some hotels, some stores, the rivers, and the kids • My questions for Rachel: 1. Did you like the food from Guatemala? 2. Did you go to dances in Guatemala? 3. How many people from Guatemala have great stuff? 4. Are people in Guatemala good or bad?

  3. Salena’sReflections • I was surprised about how broken plenty of people were and especially to see how poor they live each day. Even though life was like that for them… they still have such hope for the next day. • How has the Mayan culture been carried on with the new generation? • My favorite parts during the Guatemala Project was to be able to see actual photos of parts of the cities. The most shocking one was being able to see how big the landfill was and to know how many people actually LIVED in it, which was really heartbreaking. • Did you have to follow any cultural rules being surrounded by Mayans? Has going to Guatemala inspired you to do anything for others?

  4. Arley’s Reflections • What surprised me about Guatemala is that some people went missing from Guatemala; the amount of small houses; the signs were all in Spanish; the amount of people who could not afford an education; and the things we learned about the fantastic festivals and street shops that were in the towns. • I would like to know more about what other foods the people in Guatemala eat. I’d like to know what some of the holidays are that they celebrate. I’d like to know what kinds of desserts they have in Guatemala. And, I’d like to know what kind of religions that people follow in Guatemala. • My favorite parts about the project were seeing all the different types of people in the towns and the houses. I also liked seeing the movie clips that we watched in Mr. Yates’ class. It was really cool how I got to learn about Guatemala and I would love to go back and learn about it again. And I would really like to go there some day. • My questions for Rachel: 1. What did you enjoy best about Guatemala? 2. Would you ever go back?

  5. Cam’s Reflections • My opinion was that people in Guatemala lived in cities and religions to help poor things in Guatemala and cultures in people to make food and primary schools in ethnic groups. • I’d like to learn more about Mayan cultures and living in Mexico and Guatemala. • My favorite part of the project was when we watched stuff about the Mayans. • My questions for Rachel: 1. What is it like in Guatemala? 2.What’s the Mayan culture like? 3. Did you have food in Guatemala? 4. How is cities like? 5. How is people like in Guatemala? 6. How is creation myths like? 7. Why is the city crowded? 8. When did kids like going to school?
