  2. MAC Logo The MAC logo conveys that “diversity means more than race or gender.” We manage diverse ecosystems to achieve multiple objectives with a diverse workforce. The design attempts to portray this diversity in both form and word. The multi-designed circles in the single diversity pot represent the total mix of workers, ecosystems, and tasks that form the National Forests in Alabama. This is how we successfully serve the people. Logo design and words by: G. McEldowney

  3. MAC Charter • MAC serves as a means of communication between Management and employees, and assists Management in devising and carrying out an affirmative Civil Rights policy and continuing program activities. • MAC functions under the direction of the Forest Supervisor and provides recommendations for the Supervisor’s action. • MAC does not serve as an official representative of any community or employee organization, but as a committee interested in the Civil Rights of all employees.

MAC Membership • 14 Voting Members • 2 representatives from the Supervisor’s Office • 1 representative from each District • 6 Special Emphasis Program Managers • Advisory Group – Non-voting Members • Administrative Officer, Staff Advisor (Forest Leadership Team Representative), Personnel Officer, EEO Counselors, African American Strategy Group Representative, & Union Representative

  6. 2002 Accomplishments • Black History Month Event • Civil Rights Institute & 16th Street Baptist Church Tour to build bridges of understanding among employees

  7. 2002 Accomplishments • Women’s History Month Observance • Provided 4 educational presentations to Forest employees highlighting the accomplishments of women • National Public Lands Day Event – Tuskegee National Forest • Uchee Shooting Range • Clean-up Event to promote teamwork and volunteerism

  8. 2002 Accomplishments • Unity Day 2002 • All employees event promoting cultural diversity and unity • Focus Area: Native Americans in the Southeast • Theme: Together Everyone Accomplishes More • Moundville Archaeological Park • Recognized 33 employees with MAC’s Civil Rights Achievement Awards

  10. 2002 Accomplishments • Established MOU with Tuskegee Human and Civil Rights Multicultural Center and toured the Center • Developed MOU with Alabama A&M University to recruit & retain students • Attended MANNRS Conference • Served on selection panels • Facilitated meetings and provided training • Developed a MAC Desk Reference Guide • Developed a MAC Internet Site

  12. 2003 Accomplishments • Placed and mentored 7 Alabama A&M University student interns for the summer • Developed a Fire Survey & Action Plan • Published Multicultural Resource and Safety Calendar • Served on selection panels • Provided educational presentations

  13. 2003 Accomplishments • Sponsored a Job Fair – Talladega Career Link • Co-sponsored a Landowner’s Workshop on Bankhead Ranger District

  14. 2003 Accomplishments • Black History and Women’s History Celebration Event – “Footsteps to Freedom” • Traveled Route 80-Selma & Montgomery • National Voting Rights Museum and Viola Liuzzo Memorial Tour • Marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge
