  5. Aims • Improve the effectiveness of sustainable mobility policies implemented by local authorities in small and medium sized cities in Europe • Improve the awareness amongst regional policy makers of the importance of supporting these policies within regional development frameworks

  6. MMOVE Priorities • Communication & awareness raising • Traffic management and control • Public & collective transport

  7. Main activities • Identification, data collection and analysis of Mobility Management Best Practices, both among partners cities and in other cities or similar projects; • Selection of Best Practices of major interest for the partnership and organisation of Study Visits; • Selection of a Best Practice potentially transferable in one partner city and analysis through Feasibility studies;

  8. Main outcomes • Development of Policy Recommendations addressed to local regional decision makers; • Creation of the “Policy Toolbox”, documenting the project results, accessible not only to partners, but also to all the European cities interested in finding new sustainable mobility solutions and strategies.

  9. BHCC Implications • Overall budget = €110,000 (including 25% BHCC match-funding) • Hosted ‘kick off’ meeting – February 2009 • Hosted Study Visit – June 2010 • Technical Working Group and Steering Committee member

  10. BHCC Best Practices Quality Bus Partnership (QBP) – successful joint working with local bus companies. The council has provided accessible bus stops, real time information boards, talking bus stops and bus lane priority. The bus companies provide improvements to the quality of the bus fleet, frequency of services and pricing of tickets. Journey On – the City Council’s informative and interactive website and associated annual programme of suatainable transport events.

  11. Study Visits attended • Reggio Emilia – Bicibus/electric vehicles • Varberg – journeys to school/healthy cycling • Molndal – flexi-motorist/healthy commuters • Ulm – car sharing/flexible transport Project meetings • Girona • Volos

Brighton & Hove City Council Transferability Study ‘Bicibus’ - one of the Best Practices put forward by the lead partner Reggio Emilia in Italy A Bicibus is a group of children, who cycle to and from school, following a set route, while accompanied by adults. Alternative names – Cycling bus, Bike bus, Bicycling pooling, Bicycle bus, Cycle train.
