  1. MDMA effects on the human body and brain

  2. Increases in heart rate and blood pressure • Nausea • Loss of appetite • Jaw tightness • Compulsive chewing and teeth clenching • Anxiety, panic, and depression • Health risks increase if ecstasy is combined with another drug

  3. Effects on the brain MDMA forces the brain to kick out high levels of a neurotransmitter called serotonin

  4. Effect of MDMA on serotonin neurons in the brain.

  5. When you take MDMA will begin to sweat due to high body temperature that is caused by the increase of blood pressure and heart rate. Your vesicles will release enormous amounts of serotonin into the synaps. This significantly increases serotonin receptor binding. This increased receptor activity leads to significant changes in the brain electrical firing and is primarily responsible for the experience you get such as empathy, happiness, increased sociableness, enhanced sensation of touch, etc.

  6. Jaw Clenching People that take MDMA will notice that their jaw is becoming sore due to jaw clenching. Jaw chattering or clenching when you take MDMA is due to stimulation of the trigeminal nerve

  7. MDMA causes reduction in the reuptake concentration of serotonin transporters in the brain. Many studies have shown that it may be neurotoxic in humans. Depression and deficits in memory have been shown to occur frequently in long-term users. Some people that take too much of me can suffer from long-term affects such as loss of consciousness, cardio toxicity or damage to the heart, cognitive and memory impairment potentially to the point of retrograde or anterograde amnesia, and even death
