IEEE Connecticut Section Chapter • Aerospace and Electronic Systems (AES)/Systems Council • Chair: Theodora Saunders (Acting) • A meeting co-sponsored by the ASME and the IEEE Connecticut AES/Sys Council chapter planned to take place on Feb. 29 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the University of New Haven (UNH), was cancelled due to the bad weather forecasts. • The meeting was rescheduled and took place on April 17th • A mini conference is being planned for 10th November 2012 • Coordinated with UNH Dean’s office for facilities • We secured a Technical Fellow from Sikorsky • Working to secure an outside speaker (possibly) from NASA • Theo will give a presentation on Systems Engineering • Title : Defense Aerospace Sector Challenges and Opportunities • A combined AESS/Sys Council & MTTS lunch and learn being planned at Sikorsky • Participated in the IEEE-USA WIE annual Capitol Hill Day IN Washington, DC USA. • The event brought together 60 or so women engineers from around the country for a day discussing ways to increase diversity in the STEM workforce, and then a day on Capitol Hill discussing STEM diversity issues with Congress • Provided input to WIE magazine and to the WEB content  • Participated as a reviewer of all the SEBoK v1.0 Release and all prior versions along with many other SE practioners from industry and academia.

IEEE Toronto Systems Council Chapter • Chapter Chair: Alexei Botchkarev • Toronto Systems Chapter is a relatively “young” • Formation approved by IEEE MGA Board on February 19, 2011 • In July 2012, the chapter was transformed into a joint chapter of the Systems Council and System, Man and Cybernetics Society. • The Systems Chapter has organized several high-quality seminars: • “Competition and Cooperation in Societal and Technological Systems of Systems” by Dr. Keith Hipel, Professor of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo. IEEE Distinguished Lecture. (Feb. 16, 2012) • “Who's flying this ship? Systems Engineering for Planet Earth” by Dr. Steve Easterbrook, Professor of Computer Science, University of Toronto. (Dec. 1, 2012) • “The Development of Defence Electronics Systems - A Personal Perspective” by Robert Inkol, Senior Scientist, Defence Research and Development Canada (May 9, 2011) • Also, the chapter co-sponsored an event organized by the Aerospace and Electronics Systems chapter: “Cooperative Control Synchronization and Games on Communication Graphs “, Dr. F.
