  1. Welcome to Roland FFA By: Lauren Leonard “ learning to Do, doing to Learn, earning to Live, living to Serve.”

  2. What’s FFA all about? • The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

  3. The FFA Vision • The National FFA Organization envisions a future in which all agricultural education students will discover their passion in life, and build on that insight to chart the course for their education, career and personal future.

  4. What can you do in Ag? • Floriculture • Land Judging • Range Land • Nursery & Landscape • Survey • Welding & Shop Work • Speech & Broadcasting • Horticulture • Leadership Conference • Conventions

  5. Floriculture • The ag way of saying Flower farming! Educational definition is the cultivation of flowering and ornamental plants.

  6. Land Judging • the importance of land characteristics, conservation practices, and home site evaluation. Hey, what’s more fun then diggin’ in the dirt! & in a hole!

  7. Range Land • An expanse of land suitable for livestock to wander and graze on. It is the vast natural landscapes in the form of grasslands, shrublands, woodlands, wetlands, and deserts. More or less the grasses agricultural animals feed upon.

  8. Nursery & Landscaping • Indentifying plants as well as tree’s and flowers.. Indentify pests and diseases. Who knows you might like to know what’s in your backyard.

  9. Survey • is the technique, profession, and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them.

  10. Welding & Shop Work is the profession, and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them. This is often done by melting the work pieces and adding a filler material to form a pool of molten material (the weld pool) that cools to become a strong joint, with pressure sometimes used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce the weld! If it looks like a nickel then you know your doing good! Can anyone say hello to playing with fire and making an art out of it!!!

  11. Speech & Broadcasting Speaking out is a lot of what you do in ag! The environment is changing as we know it. So what we do, is let others know the changes in every day life. We even go to contests where we win awards and our stories are used to teach others!

  12. Horticulture • is the industry and science of plant cultivation including the process of preparing soil for the planting of seeds, tubers, or cuttings.

  13. Leadership Conference Roland Leadership Conference!! • Here is where you go to different workshops that are prepared by the state officers. • National Leadership Conference for State Officers Is the second conference in training series for state FFAofficers. Its main focus is on helping strengths and weakness as a group, & learn advanced interpersonal communication strategies and presentation delivery techniques.

  14. Conventions • At FFA camps, retreats and conferences FFA members work on their leadership skills and character development. And, they meet new friends and have a lot of fun!

  15. What we Aggies live for!FFA Creed I BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE, WITH A FAITH BORN NOT OF WORDS BUT OF DEEDS - ACHIEVEMENTS WON BY THE PRESENT AND PAST GENERATIONS OF AGRICULTURISTS; IN THEPROMISE OF BETTER DAYS THROUGH BETTER WAYS, EVEN AS THE BETTER THINGS WE NOWENJOY HAVE COME TO US FROM THE STRUGGLES OF FORMER YEARS. I BELIEVE THAT TO LIVE AND WORK ON A GOOD FARM, OR TO BE ENGAGED IN OTHERAGRICULTURAL PURSUITS, IS PLEASANT AS WELL AS CHALLENGING; FOR I KNOW THE JOYS ANDDISCOMFORTS OF AGRICULTURAL LIFE AND HOLD AN INBORN FONDNESS FOR THOSEASSOCIATIONS WHICH, EVEN IN HOURS OF DISCOURAGEMENT, I CANNOT DENY. I BELIEVE IN LEADERSHIP FROM OURSELVES AND RESPECT FROM OTHERS. I BELIEVE IN MY OWNABILITY TO WORK EFFICIENTLY AND THINK CLEARLY, WITH SUCH KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL AS ICAN SECURE, AND IN THE ABILITY OF PROGRESSIVE AGRICULTURISTS TO SERVE OUR OWN ANDTHE PUBLIC INTEREST IN PRODUCING AND MARKETING THE PRODUCT OF OUR TOIL. I BELIEVE IN LESS DEPENDENCE ON BEGGING AND MORE POWER IN BARGAINING; IN THE LIFEABUNDANT AND ENOUGH HONEST WEALTH TO HELP MAKE IT SO--FOR OTHERS AS WELL ASMYSELF; IN LESS NEED FOR CHARITY AND MORE OF IT WHEN NEEDED; IN BEING HAPPY MYSELFAND PLAYING SQUARE WITH THOSE WHOSE HAPPINESS DEPENDS UPON ME. I BELIEVE THAT AMERICAN AGRICULTURE CAN AND WILL HOLD TRUE TO THE BEST TRADITIONS OF OUR NATIONAL LIFE AND THAT I CAN EXERT AN INFLUENCE IN MY HOME AND COMMUNITY WHICH WILL STAND SOLID FOR MY PART IN THAT INSPIRING TASK.

  16. & this all happens by this amazing man! Mr. Myron Lockwood
