  1. Mapping the Master Words We’re using the metaphor of a bride and groom to illustrate that the Master Words embody the joining of two word families, each of which has many relatives. Some of the relatives are close and easy to recognize as members of the same word family. Others are distant and may bear only a slight resemblance to the “bride and groom.” When the relationship is pointed out to you, you say, “Oh, yes, I do see the resemblance!” A few notes: The members of some prefixes, such as t the un- family, number into the thousands! You don’t have to invite all of them. Just try not to confuse them with other negative-making prefixes, such as dis-, mis-, in-.

  2. Mapping the Master Words A few notes from the Wedding Planner: The members of some prefixes, such as the un- family, number into the thousands! You don’t have to invite all of them. Justtry not to confuse them with other negative-making prefixes, such as dis-, mis-, in-. The suffixes –tion and –sion are the same family.
