Bluetooth 시장동향 • 블루투스가 2000년 8월 현재 전세계 1833개 이상의 업체로 부터 지지를 받으며 무선이터페이스의 실질적인 주력으로 자리잡아 가고 있는 가운데 앞으로 그 대응 제품도 대량으로 출시될 것으로 예상됩니다. 블루투스는 현재 휴대폰, 노트북컴퓨터, 디지탈카메라,휴대 게임기 등 휴대기기 제조업체는 물론 자동차 제조업체 등 전자, 정보통신 이외 기업의 지지도 받고 있습니다. 특히 그 동안 블루투스 진영 참여에 소극적인 태도를 보여온 마이크로 소프트를 비롯해 루슨트테크놀로지,모토로라,3Com 등,세계 유력 IT 업체들이 블루투스 보급 단체인 블루투스 SIG(Special Interest Group)의 주도 기업으로 참여하고 있습니다. • Bluetooth의 응용기기가 2004년에는 전세계적으로 4억 5000만대에 이를것으로 IDC는 예측하고 있다. 보고서에 따르면 Bluetooth는 휴대폰단말기, 노트북 컴퓨터 ,스캐너 등으로 확대 될 것이라 한다. 한편 Allied Business Intelligent 사, InStat사등도 Bluetooth 관련 시장을 긍정적으로 내다보고 있는데, 각각 2005년 세계 시장규모를 20억달러, 30억달러에 이를 것으로 예측하고 있습니다. • 국내에서 블루투스 SIG에 가입한 회사는 8월 현재 60여개사 입니다. 정부기관으로 ETRI, KETI등이,대기업으로는 LG, 삼성, 현대,대우 그리고 정보통신기기 관련 업체 및 대학등 다양하게 가입하여 있습니다. PCS 폰 제조회사 및 PCS 서비스 3사의 경우 2000년 말 경에 블루투스 기능을 갖춘 Phone을 출시 할 것으로 보이며,Headset, Access Point 의 개발에는 중소벤처 기업들이 개발을 서두르고 있습니다.

  22. 결론 • 향후 Bluetooth가 탑재될 것으로 기대되는 단말에는 휴대폰, PDA, Norebook, Access Point, 무선 headset 이외에도 디지털 카메라, 가정용 무선 전화기, 정보 가전기기, Home Security장비 등이 있으며, Bluetooth의 성공 여부는 얼마나 많은 단말들이 이 기술을 채용하느냐에 달려있다고 할 수 있다. 현재 국내외의 수많은 기업들이 Bluetooth를 탑재한 제품을 개발하고 있으며 금년이 지나기 전에 다양한 제품들이 선보일것으로 예상된다. • 그러나 현재까지 Bluetooth의 규격이 완성되지 않았고 기술적인 부분에서의 여러가지 문제점이 남아있어 성장의 저해 요인으로 되어있으며 장기적 성공을 위해서 기존 유선 제품을 대체할 수 있도록 기술적인면이나 가격적인면에서 지속적인 보완이 이루어져야 할 것이다. • 예상컨대 내년에는 우리 실생활에 공존하는 다양한 Bluetooth 기기를 만나게 될 것이다.
