  2. Aims • This PowerPoint aims to show a design of an energy efficient house to the Whitehorse government including some schematics of the house • It will show the differences between an average household and the average Victorian

  3. Energy Saving Technologies • Hardboard (replacement for wood) • Hardboard is very strong compared to normal wood and insulates heat so reduces the use of electricity • Double Glazed windows • They insulate the house and so less electricity is used to heat up things and cool down • Solar Panels • Powers household electricity and so less electricity is used • Hyssil (replaces concrete foundations) • Insulates ground so less energy is needed to cool or heat up house • Sky lights (replaces lighting) • Less lighting is required to light up house and so less energy is used • More energy efficient appliances • Less energy is used to power appliances

  4. Roof The roof has many solar panels which help to power household appliances. It also helps to heat the water. The roof will be made predominately of hardboard. The roof will also have skylights to save lighting energy

  5. Walls Hardboard • The walls will contain Hyssil sandwiched between two pieces of Hardboard so it will give strength to the Hardboard and insulate the house Hyssil

  6. Bedroom 1 Things found in parents bedroom • Two energy efficient lamps • One big skylight • 60 watt fluorescent light bulb • Two double glazed windows • 1 Plasma Screen Tv • 1 PC • Electric Blanket • Fan

  18. Summary So as we can see the energy efficient house is much cheaper to run compared to the average Victorian by about $1400 which is a decrease of about 75% so this house design should be issued by the Whitehorse government. Note all costs were based on 15c cost on kWh
