  6. Directives Marking Until 29.2.1996 1.3.96-30.6.2003 From 1.7.2003 76/117/EEC, Valid Valid 79/196/EEC and 82/130/EEC Valid Valid 94/9/EC (Atex) Basics of ATEX directive and timetable ATEX-directive (94/9/EC) • Compulsory after end of June 2003 • Covers all equipment, which will be installed in hazardous area in EU(also non-electrical devices) Requirements are divided in three categories: • Technical requirements from harmonised EN-standards • Health and Safety aspects • Production Quality requirements Timetable • ABB delivered the first ATEX certified motor in 02/1999

  7. ATEX directive - Requirements • Technical • All technical requirement based on harmonised EN standards • Harmonisation • New EN standards cover all EU countries • Health and Safety • All requirements focus on safety instructions • All equipment must be delivered with instructions for safe: • putting into service, use, assembling and dismantling, maintenance, installation, adjustment • In practice manuals (in English) and safety instructions (official language of the country and in English)

  8. EC Declaration of Conformity Directive 94/9/CE (ATEX): The only document which is mandatory to be given with each delivery is: EC Declaration of Conformity. With this document ABB takes the commitment and responsibility that the products respect the ATEX directive. This document gives information on; - product quality assessment notification - EC type examination certificate (with reference numbers).
