  3. Story of Roman Democracy • The CITIZENS of ROME grew tired of living under a RULER and in 509BC the wealthy aristocrats over threw the King (Revolution). They then set up a REPUBLIC where the government rests in the citizens hands…

  4. What Is A Republic? • A REPUBLIC IS… • A Representative System • A Form of Indirect Democracy • We elect leaders to represent us and then run the government for us because we are so busy.

  5. The Power Struggle • Have’s vs. Have not’s, rich vs. poor • Should ancestry determine authority? • Patricians had all the RIGHTS on their side… • Plebians & Slaves struggles for equality • Class struggles EVENTUALLY lead to CIVIL WAR or REFORM?
