  1. Bellringer Last week we discussed energy sources that we could use for a car: Chemical (gasoline) vs. Light (Sun) Why would using a light source be much more desirable? Five Minute Timer Five minute ends

  2. RENEWABLE VS. NONRENEWABLE ENERGY

  3. A nonrenewable resource can be used only once and cannot be made in our lifetime.

  4. FCON

  5. Fossil Fuelsare energy from once-living things. (coal, natural gas, and oil)

  6. FCON

  7. Coal • Formed by dead land plants and animals • The main source for Electricity • It pollutes the air

  8. FCON

  9. Oil • Formed by dead ocean plants and animals • Another name for oil is petroleum (petróleo) • Oil produces most of the plastic we have on earth • We use oil in our cars for fuel • It DOES NOT produce as must pollution as coal

  10. FCON

  11. Natural Gas • Formed by dead ocean plants and animals • Provides heat for homes and cooks our food • It hardly produces pollution • It is the most expensive fossil fuel

  12. Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources. We can get or make more of these resources in our lifetime.

  13. Alternative Energy Resources- A substitute for energy resources

  14. Wind Energy Energy that comes from the movement of air

  15. Solar Energy Energy that comes from the Sun

  16. Biofuel Fuels from plant material

  17. Geothermal Energy that comes from heat deep under the ground

  18. Hydroelectricity Energy that comes from moving water

  19. Categorize the following as either Renewable or Non-Renewable. • a. afield of corn • b. Oil in the Arctic tondra • c. Coal in the, appalachianmountains • d. Sunshine • e. Tides in san francisco. When you get done, try to fix the capitalization, comma, and spelling errors that you find above?
