  1. Guidance Notes to get into H2020 and EUREKA Dr. Thies Wittig

  2. Some basic questions to start 1. Why do you want to get in ? What do you want to do in terms of science, technology or innovation? Why do you want to this in a collaborative project with other, i.e. why can’t you do this just yourself? What are your resources that enable you to actually do the work you want? Carefully write down the answers ! They will be your main arguments to convince others to take you on board.

  3. 2. How do you get in ? Understand not only the rules and procedures (not too difficult) but also their implications, i.e. your obligations as a partner in a project (own funds, dependencies, admin overhead, non-profit) The you need initiative and pro-activeness to find partners, i.e. a consortium to join. Independent of the funding programme

  4. Now that you know what you want to do and why, look for the right programme. H2020 is the biggest (in terms of budget and scope of topic areas), but not easy to win a project. In FP7 there were about 23,000 projects (meaning over 100,000 proposals) and 25,000 organisations involved. A programme possibly more targeted to your needs may be EUREKA.

  5. An intergovernmental organisation for market-driven industrial R&D.   • A decentralised network facilitating the coordination of national funding on innovation aiming to boost the productivity & competitiveness of European industries. • The network integrates over 40 pan-European economies, but also includes Israel, South Korea, and Canada. • EUREKA has been the driving force of innovation in Europe for over 25 years.

  6. Setting up a EUREKA Project

  7. Your entry point: The National Project Coordinators (NPC) are at operational level, running the National EUREKA Offices. They are the direct contact with project in each member country. NPCs facilitate the setting-up and running of a project and are responsible for project generation, national and international support and follow-up.
