Nubian Water Systems • Formed in 2005 to develop small scale solutions to address the global shortage of drinking water • Has become a developer and marketer of leading products in the water industry – with a specific focus on distributed systems • Major focus has been the development and commercialisation of greywater recycling solutions, based on Nubian patented biofiltration technology • By 2010, Nubian has an installed base of several hundred systems, covering single dwellings, apartment buildings, commercial office buildings, prison, army barracks and aged care facilities – all systems are factory built and tested before shipment.

Greywater Treatment - Background • Interest in treating greywater to a high level of quality, emerged in Australia 6-8 years ago • Domestic drivers; • Drought and tough water restrictions on garden watering, car washing etc • Introduction of compulsory sustainability targets • Increasing wave of commitment to health and sustainability • Commercial drivers; • The desire to achieve high sustainability ratings, in order to attract premium tenants and achieve rental premiums and increased building valuations • Introduction of compulsory sustainability targets • Provide alternative / supplementary (potable replacement) water supply in areas of water shortage, such as remote mining camps

Greywater Recycling • Why greywater? • Reliable source – independent of weather • Can be treated to high quality for re-use indoors and outdoors • Significant contribution to reduction in consumption – Can achieve >40% reduction in consumption in domestic applications (higher in apartment buildings), and 60% reduction in discharge to sewer

Water recycling will become mandatory in many locations • Buildings will be “greywater ready”, reducing installation costs • Separated greywater and blackwater plumbing • Separate reticulation for toilets, clothes washer, irrigation, vehicle wash • Additional re-use applications – swimming pool top-up, cooling tower makeup • Uniform regulation • Australia – AGWR • USA – NSF 350 has many similarities to AGWR • Cost reductions – as technology penetrates market Leading to Increasing demand for reliable, cost effective greywater recycling solutions
