  1. Happy Friday! August 16, 2013 Turn to page 75 in your Writer’s Notebook. Begin on the next line, make sure you date your entry. Think about a setting you enjoy. Now, describe this setting in great detail using lots of adjectives, but don’t tell where or what the setting is. Let’s see if we can guess by your description! At least 1 paragraph (5 sentences).

  2. August 16, 2013 The place I enjoy is a very peaceful place that has a relaxing atmosphere. I can look up into the blue sky dotted with the puffy, white cumulus clouds. I admire the clouds as they dance across the sky like a skilled ballet dancer. The water beneath me feels cool and crisp that breaks the day’s heat. The breeze ruffles the decorative flowers planted nearby.

  4. Step 1: Number every page • On pages 1 – 200, place a number in the outside, upper corner of each page. • Ready, set, number!

  5. Step 2: Table of Contents. • At the top of page 1 write, • Table of Contents. • On these first few pages you’ll keep track of your entries and assignments. Be sure to leave plenty of extra lines between each section title so you can record the contents of each section.

  6. STEP 3: “Introduction, Rules and Expectations” • At the top of page 4 write, • Rules and Expectations. • Then, record the rules and expectations associated with your Writer’s Notebook. They are as follows: • Read everyday! • Date every entry • Never tear out pages. • Try my best on every assignment. • If I miss an entry or assignment, it is MY responsibility to see Mrs. Thomas or a classmate to complete the work. • My RN will be checked at random times during the week, month, and year. It is important that I stay current with all entries and assignments. • Be creative! • Have fun being a reader 
