Board of Trustees Area &Country Forum NCPC/DMStaff Policy Groups& Committees The Area & Country Forum is a sub-committee of the Board of Trustees of NCPC, consisting of: Area & Country Forum 10 x Area Representatives - England2 x Area Representatives - Wales2 x Area Representatives - Northern Ireland

3. • To assist NCPC in its advisory role in the development and support of Supportive and Palliative Care Networks Area & Country ForumTerms of Reference • To provide a forum for discussion of palliative care strategy, including provision, funding and commissioning of services across all statutory, voluntary and independent sectors • To advise the Board of Trustees on issues arising from such discussion • To facilitate development of partnership working between statutory and voluntary sectors • To assist in identifying good practice in commissioning and providing palliative care services • To advise the Board on the development of the Area/Country structure • To promote the maintenance of a countrywide approach to palliative care in England, Wales & Northern Ireland, and in Scotland through partnership with the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care

6. • Elected by vote for three year term, up to maximum of six years • Must be NCPC subscriber, and located in relevant region/country Area & Country Representatives • Pivotal in communication between NCPC, SHAs, PCTs, Networks, Service Providers, Commissioners etc • Encourage / facilitate network development / NCPC joint working • Contribute to the dissemination of good practice in palliative care • Promote multi-professional working / user involvement • Ensure local concerns are raised at NCPC national level, whilst contributing to problem solving strategies • Attend Area & Country Forum meetings

7. • Nominated via Supportive and Palliative Care Network, for three year term, up to a maximum of six years • Ideally be NCPC subscriber Network Liaison Leads • Act as an information channel for local Networks to / from NCPC • Encourage co-operation / co-ordination between services within their Network / national end of life care organisations • Assist in identifying good practice in providing and commissioning palliative care • Attend Area & Country Forum / other meetings
