  1. Black Holes By: Candace Larsen

  2. What is a Black Hole? • A black hole is a place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light can not get out. • Because no light can get out, people can't see black holes. They are invisible. Space telescopes with special tools can help find black holes.

  3. Where do Black holes come from? • Stellar black holes are made when the center of a very big star falls in upon itself, or collapses. When this happens, it causes a supernova supernova -

  4. What would happen if you fell into a black hole? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzu59QcahmA&feature=player_detailpage As you get closer and closer to the center of the hole, though, you start to feel "tidal" gravitational forces. The gravitational pull gets stronger as you get closer to the center of the hole, so your feet feel a stronger pull than your head does. As a result you feel "stretched." These tidal forces get more and more intense as you get closer to the center, and eventually they will rip you apart.

  5. Inside a black hole

  6. If you cant see black holes how do we know they are there? • Black hole can be found indirectly by observing its effect on the stars and gas close to it.

  7. Do all stars become black holes? • Only stars with very large masses can become black holes.
