Sexually Transmitted Infection(STI) • Any disease that spreads from one person to another during sexual contact is a sexually transmitted infection or STI. • Over 25 diseases are passed sexually • 19 million people are infected every year from STI’s in the United States • 3 million of those people are under the age of 20

  2. Risky behaviors that can lead to STI’s • Ignoring risk’s • Multiple partners • Not seeking treatment

  3. How to avoid STI’s and unwanted pregnancy • Abstinence • Avoid drugs • Choose responsible friends

The Most Common STI’s • The pathogens that cause STIs live in the female and male reproductiveorgans and in the blood. • STIs can be spread from person to person through blood and bodily fluids such as semen, vaginal fluids, breast milk. • The three most common STIs are Chlamydia, Human Papilloma Virus and Trichomoniasis.
