Technical Certificate – ICT Systems and Principles • L2 Award – 12 credits • No Mandatory unit • Minimum - 8 credits at level 2 • Optional - 9 credits • Restricted optional (vendor unit)– 3 • L3 Certificate – 24 credits • One Mandatory unit – 6 credits • Minimum – 15 credits at Level 3 • Optional – 18 credits • Restricted optional (vendor unit) - 6

  6. Functional Skills • English - 5 credits • Mathematics - 5 credits • Functional Skills can be achieved at Level 1 within the L2 within the L2 Apprenticeship but must be at level 2 within the L3 apprenticeship. • The relaxation rule for Apprentices will continue for Functional Skills until 2016 • This means new apprentices with appropriate GCSE’s in Maths and English grade A*-C will not need to complete Functional Skills

  7. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills • The 6 Personal Learning and Thinking Skills have been mapped to the content of Personal Effectiveness and Professionalism units at Levels 2 & 3 – thereby satisfying the requirements of the new specification for Apprenticeship Standards in England and Wales.

  8. Employer Rights andResponsibilities • Must be Formally Assessed • A Generic ERR unit has been developed by Asset Skills and Construction Skills. Awarding bodies can use this unit in their Technical Certificate. Alternatively centres will be able to make other arrangements as suitable. E-skills UK will provide further guidance with future updates.
