  5. Not Anonymous Permanent Infinitely Duplicable • Three Key User Assumptions: • Content visible to everyone • Content becomes permanent • Viewers can potentially cause harm “Digital Footprint”

Social Networking “What your friends are posting may be stating a lot about you.” • Are your friends posting your full name? • What is a simple birthday wish revealing about you? • How many words is a photo worth? • What are SN postings stating about you? • Who is posting private chat discussions? • What are their Facebook privacy settings?

  8. Set privacy settings to only allow access to people you actually know in real life (IRL). Do not extend access to your friends’ friends. • Remove your Full Name • Remove your Birth Date • Remove your school / job info • Don’t use the bulletin features • Restrict your email and IM contact information • Clean up any inappropriate language or questionable profile choices Social Networking Best Practices
