  4. Rules of Outreach • Always have swag. • Have no shame! Shamelessly promote the library. • Invite yourself to the party. • Community meetings, schools, church groups, parks, shopping centers, bus stops, laundromats, county fairs, farmers’ markets, etc. (Keep an eye on social media and other applications like Nextdoor, Meet-Up, etc.) • Have materials printed in languages that reflect your community. • Your outreach game is always in beta. • Buttons! People love buttons! • Create a spectacle. • Be patient and persistent! Reading By Design | Summer 2017

Partnerships: Find them in unexpected places! • Local schools • Local city government/governing body • Other County Departments • Marin County Fair; Marin Housing Authority; Health and Human Services; Health and Wellness Centers or Clinics • Parenting groups and other community groups ( homeschooling parents and their groups; in-home daycare; Friends of the Library, Rotary, women’s clubs, churches, etc.) • Other: After-school and/or tutoring programs (Boys & Girls Club, etc.); stores or locally-owned shops and restaurants; Reading By Design | Summer 2017
