  6. Shining Path • Peruvian revolutionary organization that endorsed Maoism and employed guerrilla tactics and violent terrorism. • (“Marxism-Leninism will open the shining path to revolution”)

  7. Red Brigade • Formed in 1970, the Marxist-Leninist Red Brigades sought to create a revolutionary state through armed struggle and to separate Italy from the Western Alliance (NATO).

  8. PLO and Hamas • Palestine Liberation Organization • Egypt President Nasser and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat wanted to take land back from the Israeli Jews. • Hamas exerted force after Arafat died in 2005. • Also want Israel destroyed.

  9. Al Qaeda • Wants to end U.S. influence from the Persian Gulf • Think Christian-Judaism created an alliance to end Islam. Jihad is acceptable.

  16. United Nations • Organization created to keep peace following WWII • There are currently 192 nations that are members out of 194 countries in the world.

  17. OPEC • Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries • Controls the amount of oil production in the world

  18. World Trade Organization • An organization that monitors world trade and tries to restrict barriers of trade.
