  2. Demand Over 4.6% (1,662Children) of the population of Oneida County is children under the age of five. Children between the ages of five and nine make up another 4.2%.

  3. More Demands • More and more families are looking for child care that is part time and has flex scheduling. • There is a shortage of infant care in the area.

  4. Supply Within a fifteen mile radius, there are twenty-one child care centers. Of these, nine are Family centers.

  5. Customer Base The customer base for A New Beginning Family Child Care Center is primarily derived from two areas. Health care and area industry make up about 63% of my current families. Retail, education and others making up the remaining 37%.

  6. Parent Preference • Quality • Type of Center (Family) • Day/Hours of Operation • Cost ( Did I accept child subsidy?) • Location When asked, “What is the most important thing you look for when looking for child care?” Parents rated the following areas in this order.

  11. Possible Changes… • Expand hours of operation from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. • Offer more part time slots. • Offer more flex time scheduling.
