  2. Unit Plan Summary: In this unit, students will master the concept of place value identification and number recognition. The students will become “creators” of a memory number matching game designed to show mastery of number concept knowledge.

  4. How can numbers be used in everyday life? • Why do we need numbers? Unit Questions Content Questions • How many digits are needed to write a number to the ten thousands place? • What are the three forms of numbers? • What numbers can you see in your car? House? Store?

Benefits of Using Project Approaches, Ongoing Assessment, and CFQs in My Unit • Students use their creativity to design a game showing knowledge. • The “game” has a real audience—others will participate in the student work. • Students collaborate with peers to design game. • They learn time management skills while they are working on the project. • Throughout the project, students are learning by doing.

  6. By Using Project Approaches, Ongoing Assessment, and CFQs My Students Will: • Experience working collaboratively to accomplish the same goal. • Gain self-assessment and self-direction skills that they will use and build on all year long
