  3. 1st AIFBD Congress, August 2008 • IFLA Satellite Meeting • Under the aegis of the OIF: Organisation internationale de la Francophonie • 250 participants from 60 countries • 15 librarians from the U.S. • 80 speakers

  4. 1st AIFBD Congress, August 2008 • Papers were presented over the course of 2 ½ days, with 22 sessions organized thematically • Moderated session “Grandes bibliothèques: rôles et usages” (role, challenges and latest innovations in the development of services in three large libraries in Africa, Canada and Switzerland) • Main focus of the three presentations was the provision of quality and up-to-date service to 21st century users

  7. And what I really did on my summer vacation…Visit the Jotenheimen National Park in Norway • Hike from Memurubu to Gjendesheim, one of Norway's most well known walks made famous by Henrik Ibsen. Peer Gynt rides across the Besseggen Ridge on the back of a reindeer before tumbling into the 400 meters (1,320 feet) into Lake Gjende.
