  18. MAX MIN 2.4 Check and Addition of Engine Oil • The engine oil consumption is affected by many factors. • The new engine will reach the normal oil consumption after about 5,000km traveling. • The engine consumes more oil when operating under high load. • The engine oil should be checked regularly, for example, when adding the fuel or prior to the long-distance journey. Add the engine oil without exceeding the upper limit of scale • When checking the engine oil, park your vehicle on the flat ground. • Shut off the ignition switch and wait for a few minutes to allow the engine oil to flow into the oil pan (it may take a longer time if the exterior temperature is too low or the engine has not yet reached the operating temperature). • Do not start the cold engine before checking the engine oil. • Check and add the engine oil: 1. Pull out the oil dipstick and clean it with lint-free cloth. 2. Re-insert it completely and pull it out again. If the oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks at the lower part of the oil dipstick, there is no need to add the engine oil (the hot engine oil may be a few millimeters above the mark due to the thermal expansion effect). 3. If the oil level is at the lower MIN mark or below, please only add the engine oil in line with the Chery specifications until it reaches between the MIN and MAX marks. 4. Wait for 5 minutes and check the engine oil level once again, and if necessary, re-add appropriate volume of oil (do not add excessively!). 5. Finally, ensure that the oil dipstick is inserted well and the filler is covered. Specification of engine oil: SAE 10W-40 (SL-class and above); In winter: SAE 5W-40 (SL-class and above) Addition volume of engine oil (including the replacement of oil filter): 4.5 liters.

  19. 2.5 Engine Coolant Attention: When the engine is running or under high temperature, do not open the filler cap. Otherwise, the coolant will eject from the system, leading to the scalding or the corrosion to other parts. • Observe the coolant level through the translucent reservoir. • When the engine is cold, the coolant level should be between the MIN and MAX marks. • The coolant level may exceed the MAX mark due to the thermal expansion effect when the engine is hot. • Add the coolant only when the engine is cold. • If it is necessary to add the coolant when the engine is hot, first of all, wait for 10 minutes to cool the engine. • First unscrew the reservoir cap for a quarter of circle to relieve the pressure, and then wait for some time to completely open it. • Add the coolant in line with the specification of this vehicle. • Using the coolant with a correct concentration not only can protect the engine from being frozen in winter, but also can provide the anti-corrosion protection throughout the year. • A3 engine is operating at high temperature, so the poor coolant can not provide the appropriate anti-corrosion protection for the cooling system. • Please use the coolant in line with the Chery specification, and never use the tap water instead. Steps of Adding Coolant: 1. Unscrew the reservoir cap, add the coolant up to the MAX line, run the engine until the water temperature reaches about 90℃, and do not apply the reservoir cap because there is gas emitted from the pipeline, and at this time, the reservoir level will drop; 2. Shut down the engine, add the coolant to the reservoir once again and repeat the above-mentioned processes until the reservoir level no longer declines, and then screw down the reservoir cover. Coolant Capacity: 7.0L

  20. 2.6 Brake Fluid Attention: If the brake fluid contacts the painted surface, use the wet sponge to erase or rinse with plenty of water. • The brake fluid reservoir is located at the left rear part of the engine compartment. • The oil level must be between the MIN and MAX marks of oil reservoir. • If the oil level drops to the MIN mark, the warning lamp of brake system on the instrument panel will be lit up. • It is necessary to add the brake fluid in line with the Chery specification to ensure the braking effect; • When adding the brake fluid, it is important to ensure the filler and the brake fluid are clean absolutely to avoid any accident caused by the brake failure. Specification of brake fluid: DOT4 2.7 Power Steering Fluid • When the engine is cold, the fluid level should reach the MAX mark. • If the level is below the MIN mark, it is necessary to add the specified fluid. • It is necessary to choose the power-assisted steering fluid in line with the Chery specification.

  21. Indicator Green Good Black In need of charging Bright Insufficient acid liquor 2.8 Battery 2.8.1 Check of Battery • The battery is of the maintenance-free design, so it is unnecessary to add the solution. • There is a battery condition viewport at the top of the battery. Observe from this viewport regularly to check the battery condition. • When the viewport shows: • • Green: indicating the battery is in good condition. • • Dark (black): indicating the battery needs charging. • • White (or yellow): indicating the battery needs replacing. 2.8.2 Disconnection and Removal of Battery • Important Notes: • Do not reverse the polarities of the battery. If the battery’s wires are connected to the wrong terminals, the electric system will be damaged. • Keep the battery anode upwards all the time. If the battery is tilted by more than 45 degrees, the battery will be damaged. • When the battery is not connected yet, do not start the engine, or when the engine is operating, do not disconnect the battery. • Before the disconnecting or removing the battery, ensure that the ignition switch and other electric parts are all shut down. • First disconnect the cathode wire and then disconnect the anode wire (when re-connecting, first the anode, then the cathode). • During the replacement, make sure that the battery is installed in the right direction. • Confirm that the metal plate and fixing belt of the battery clamp are fixed safely, which will prevent the motion of battery in case of traveling or accident. • Finally, confirm that the vents at both sides of battery are not covered by the fixing belt.

  22. 2.8.3 Notes for Charging Battery • Before charging the battery, disconnect and remove the battery from the vehicle. For a battery with wires well connected, the charging operation may damage its electric system. • Before switching on the charger, confirm that the wires of charger are clamped at the corresponding terminals of the battery. Once the charger is switched on, the wires can not be moved. • When charging the battery, pay attention to the protection of your eyes, or avoid leaning over the battery. • Maintain the good ventilation in the surrounding space over the battery. • Avoid the glare near the battery (the flammable hydrogen will arise from the battery before and after the charging). • When the viewport of battery shows green, charging the battery will lead to the over-charging. At the end of charging, switch off the battery charger before disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals. 2.8.4 Emergency Start with Auxiliary Cable Turn off the start switch and all the electrical equipment of the two vehicles, and then observe the following steps: 1. Use the red auxiliary cables to connect the anodes of two batteries (+). 2. Connect the black auxiliary cable from the cathode (-) of supplying battery (A) to a good grounding point (for example, engine bracket or other non-painted surface), which should be at least 0.5m away from the battery and far away from the vehicle so that the vehicle (B) can not be started. 3. Check whether the cable contacts with the active parts of two engines, and then start the power supplying vehicle and let it run at idle speed for several minutes. 4. Start the vehicle with a discharged battery (it is prohibited to start the engine for over 15 seconds).

  23. 5. Once the two engines are operating normally, make them run at idle speed for two minutes, and then shut down the engine of power-supplying vehicle and disconnect the auxiliary cable. It is prohibited to switch on any electric appliance of vehicle before the auxiliary cable is removed. 6. The removal order of the auxiliary cable is contrary to that for connection, that is, first disconnect the black cable from the grounding point where the vehicle can not be started. 2.9 Washing Liquid of Windshield • Check the reservoir each week. • Add the mixture of water and brand washing liquid in order to ensure the normal cleaning of windshield and prevent the freezing in cold weather. • It is preferably to mix the water and washing liquid of the recommended volume in a separate container in advance, and follow the instructions on the container. • The washer system is supplied with water by the reservoir. If necessary, add the mixture of the washing liquid of windshield and the water at the concentration of (1: 20). • Cover the reservoir after the addition. • Note: Do not use the antifreeze or vinegar/water solution in the reservoir, for the antifreeze will damage the painted surface and the vinegar will damage the washing pump of windshield. • Note: The overflow of the washing liquid of windshield is likely to cause the fade of body. • Please avoid using the non-watered and high-concentration washing liquid. • In case of overflow, wash the eroded surface immediately.

  24. 1 2.10 Replacement of Windshield Wiper Blade Check of Wiper Blade • Check the roughness of wiper blade by sliding the fingertip at its edge, and if the blade is too rough, the cleaning effect will be affected. • The grease, silicon resin and fuel may make the wiper blade operate incorrectly. • It is recommended to use the washing liquid of glass to clean the wiper blade. Replacement of Wiper Blade • When removing the wiper blade, raise the wiper arm and make it form a right angle with the wiper blade. • Press down the retaining clip according to the arrow 1 in the above figure, and pull away the wiper arm in the opposite direction after the shedding of wiper blade.

  25. 2.11 Traction of Vehicle 1. Turn the ignition key to the first position to unlock the steering wheel, and then turn to the second position to control the brake lamp, wiper and turn lamp. In case of the accident or electric malfunction and it is unsafe to turn the ignition switch to the first position, disconnect the battery cathode before turning the switch. 2. Place the shift lever to the neutral position (for the automatic transmission vehicle, it is “N” gear). 3. Release the hand brake. • Notes for Traction: • When the engine is not running, more force is required to press the brake pedal and rotate the steering wheel, and the braking distance will get longer. • In case of the traction of vehicle in failure, the traction speed should keep not more than 50km/h. • The traction distance should not be more than 50km. 2.12 Tyre Tyre Pressure Parameters (Cold Tyre) (kPa) • The correct tyre pressure should be met particularly during the driving under high load and high speed. • The lack of tyre pressure will reduce the stability, increase the rolling resistance and accelerate the tyre abrasion, and may even lead to the occurrence of accident. • If you have to drive onto the curb, always drive slowly, and if possible, it is necessary to get close to the curb with the wheels at right angle. • Avoid the upright obstructions or the ones of sharp edges. • During parking, note to avoid scratching the sidewall of tyre. • Regularly check whether there are cut, foreign matter or uneven abrasion on the tread. • The uneven abrasion of tread pattern shows that the wheel alignment may be incorrect.

  26. The worn depth limits of tread are specified. • Note that the abrasion belt mark will appear on the tread after the abrasion reaches the limit of 1.6mm, which indicates that the performance and safety of tyre drops greatly, and the tyre should be replaced. • Regularly exchange the tyres. It is recommended to exchange the four wheels once for every 5,000km traveling, i.e. exchange the left front and right rear wheels, and the right front and left rear wheels. • The tyres used on the vehicle have been selected appropriately to provide the best control, traveling comfort and safety. • The original tyres should be used when replacing the tyre, and the speedometer is affected by the dimension of the tyre. • If the tyre dimension (diameter) is different with the original value, the speedometer may be unable to display the correct speed.
