  3. Our Targets For Today • By the end of the lesson we will all be able to : • Understand why we warm-up and cool-down. • Perform a warm-up and cool-down • Including pulse raising/lowering • Stretching & Mobilising

  4. What are we going to learn and how are we going to work? Working as a group you will undertake a variety of warm-up and cool-down methods We are going to learn why we perform a warm-up and cool-down

  5. Warming up Why do we warm-up? • Helps reduce the risk of injury • Prepares the body for exercise How do we warm-up? • Raise the body’s temperature/pulse rate • Stretch the muscles

  6. Cooling-down Why do we cool-down? • Aids the body recovery • Helps disperse any lactic acid in order to reduce next day stiffness How do we cool-down? • Lower the temperature/pulse rate • Light stretching

  7. Task • You will now undertake a number of warm-up routines appropriate to a variety of activities. • You should note that for each warm-up will include: • Pulse raising/Temperature Raising • Stretching & Mobilising At the end of the lesson you will also perform a cool-down routine appropriate to the exercises having been done.
