  3. Early Life • Parents named Ann and Richard • 3 brothers, 5 sisters • Dad was a Minister • Moved to Fayetteville in 1841 • Liked to fish and hunt • Attended Fayetteville Academy • Worked as a store clerk • Dad died in 1853 due to a health issue • Never went to college
