  2. Do-Now: *Have vocab out for Ms. Stitt to check. Correct or Incorrect? Fix if incorrect: • Since John is allergic to peanuts, I won’t serve them. • Correct. • On the weekends I visit my boyfriend. • On the weekends, I visit my boyfriend. (Need comma for introductory clause) • I love to go shopping, I go as much as I can. • I love to go shopping; I go as much as I can. (Semi-colon because you have two full sentences). OR • I love to go shopping, and I go as much as I can. (If you use a comma, you must also use a FANBOYS conjunction).

Check vocab: • pretentious- attempting to impress by acting more important than you really are • desecrate- treat a sacred place with disrespect; to violate • omit- to leave out or exclude something or someone • reprove- to reprimand or scold someone • slovenly- messy and dirty (usually describing a person) • irresolute- showing hesitancy; uncertain • squeamish- easily made to feel sick or disgusted • ignoble- not honorable in purpose • susceptible- likely to be influenced or harmed by something. • surmise- to guess that something is true without evidence

SWBAT… • Explain the ending of The Crucible • Write a rough draft with strong evidence that connects to topic sentences. • 6.11.4 Develop each paragraph with well-chosen and sufficient fact, extended definitions, concrete details, quotation, paraphrase, or other information and examples appropriate to the audience’s knowledge of the topic. • 6.11.5 Connect evidence to topic sentences with commentary to clarify the relationships among complex ideas and concepts.

  9. Take 4 minutes to simply write. Write the entire time. What is your reaction to the text? (You can focus on the book as a whole, you can focus on the ending, you can focus on something you found interesting or striking…) Hand these in after.

  10. Rough Drafts: Use this time to work on your rough drafts and to ask questions. If you are finished with your rough draft, trade with someone else who is finished to begin the revision process. What I envision all of you to look like while writing 
