  1. HOW GOOD IS OUR SCHOOL? LET’S FIND OUT WHAT WE THINK ABOUT AVONBRIDGE PS

  2. Our task today is to find out how you feel about your school. We need to do this because: • It is important that we all get a chance to say what we think and how we feel. • We need to find out what you think is going well in our school • We need to get your ideas about how to make our school better • This will help us make a plan and decide how and when to make valuable changes

  3. We are going to work in groups: • There will be children from each class in each group plus one or two adult helpers • Each group will think about a different subject or “Theme” • We have a special kit for each group to help each group tell us what they think about the way we do their theme • Your adult helper will help if you get stuck or don’t understand the words in your kit. • Each group will come back here ready to show and tell us about their theme • We will have some time to look at every group’s work then add our thoughts to every theme • We hope you enjoy this chance to share your ideas and opinions honestly and respectfully

  4. This task will help you develop lots of skills which will be useful now for your learningbut will also help you live your life when you grow up and go to work: • Working with other people • Finishing a task in the time available • Listening to other peoples’ ideas and opinions • Thinking carefully about the things you hear so that you can work out your own opinion • Sharing your own ideas and opinions with respect • Giving reasons for what you say • Encouraging others in your group to share their thinking and ideas too

  5. Let’s get into our groups, choose our theme then get started! Your adult helper will make sure you understand what your theme is all about before you start your work together

  6. Let’s find out what each group said!

  7. Think about what you have heard from each group then: • Decide if you agree or disagree with what has been said • Write your thoughts on a Post it note and stick it onto the theme sheet it belongs with (other pupils or adults can help you with your writing) • Turn to the person next to you and tell them what you feel you got better at today – remember to tell them how you know you got better • Let’s all use our faces to show how we feel about the work we have done together today – will you show…
