  2. Setting • In 1997 the setting was in the streets because two gangs called “SOCS” and “GREASERS” fight and jump each other on the streets. Without the streets the two gangs won’t be able to fight and jump each other on the streets.

  4. Conflict • I think this story is man vs. man because people fight and jump each other on the streets so I believe its man vs. man.

  5. Summary of Plot • The summary in this story is that two gangs called “greasers” and “soc” fight and get jumped on the streets they even have gang fights. Greasers and soc are worst enemy’s they will always have fights on the streets. Ponyboy ,his brothers , and his friends will fight socs.

  6. Theme • Becareful what you do. • “We get jumped by Socs”. pg-2 • “We have gang fights”. pg-3 • “Darry would kill me if I got in trouble with the police”. pg-3

  7. Point of View • Ponyboy’s point of view is 1st person because he says me and I. If Darry or Soda would have been the 1st person Ponyboy would have been the 3rd person.

  8. Symbolism • The symbol in this book is a fist because Ponyboy , brother ,and his friends get into gang fights with Socs and jump each other. The symbol effects the book because the Greasers and the Socs hate each other and they would have to fight.

  9. Recommendation • I think the outsiders is a really cool book because Ponyboy put lots of detail in this book . He put lots of detail in his brothers, friends, Socs , and Greasers. He also tells you what happens in the streets. This book is good for teens and adults to read because people get into fights and get jumped. I just started reading it and I already like it.
