  2. The 7th World Water Forum’s core value is implementation ☞ Then, How can we achieve or ensure it through the Forum?

  3. To achieve or ensure Implementation ☞ Develop the tools/systems/mechanism and combine them into a forum process

  4. We’ve got • Two (initial) ideas about tools for implementation • Three questions for your feedback

  5. The 1st idea is ActionMonitoring System Implementation starts from recognizing - How far we’ve reached, - What remains unimplemented

  6. Session presenters are asked to - organize their ideas according to the monitoring system • Describe - subject areas (IWRM, Climate Change..) - ideas - how to implement • Set - goals - measurement tools

  7. Session presenters are asked to - input their achievements onto the online system by year • Check gapbetween goal and achievement • Identify what can boost or hinder a successful implementation

  8. Mechanism • Monitor by year 6th Forum 7th Forum 8th Forum 9th Forum • Establish Monitoring System • Check the current state of the 6th Forum’s Solutions & Targets • Synthesize monitoring results • Modify : add/delete

  9. The 1st question is how to establish ActionMonitoring System To help people engage in this system during/after the forum, and run it substantially, What elements / structures / interesting ideas could be added to it?

  10. The 2nd idea is Case Base Approach Actual case that is applicable > Another new theory • It covers • Best/Worst practices • Water/Out-of-water box case

  11. Case presenters are asked to follow the analysis form • Analyze case’s key factor by implementing tools, such as - governance, science & technology, financing, capacity building, etc • Identify what tool was most effective in each subject area - IWRM, Climate change, City, etc

  12. Outcome of Case Study - example • Analyze which implementing tool(s) has been most effective throughout the case • Allocate score which indicates how much each tool influences success/failure of case (Total score should be no more than 100)

  13. Outcome of Forum : Synthesis of cases • Collecting all the case study results using the same analysis form can show a certain correlation between specific subject area and implementing tools Ex. Governance turns out to be most effective tool among others in climate change area as much of 1.4 larger than the average in influence

  14. The 2nd question on Case base Approach is What methods can be applied for gauging the influence of tool? • Or any other feedback? • Expected problems/side-effects • Recommend other frameworks

  15. The 3rd question is Your idea • What ideas do we have for the design of the 7th forum so that it will be the turning point towards a real implementation of each solution?
