  2. Background • In May 2011 (kuopia, Finland) the decision was made to revise ENV 13607 (pre-standard from 2000) Health informatics - Messages for the exchange of information on medicine prescriptions • NP Ballot passed October 2011 • Time line: CD ballot June 2013

Scope • Describes the requirements that apply to e-prescriptions • Specifies the general principles for e-prescriptions and the content that facilitates the exchange and processing of an e-prescription • Addresses all appropriate requirements, including but not limited to a 'core subset' considered common to all e-prescriptions • Out of scope: other messages, roles and scenarios as well as the way in which e-prescriptions are exchanged or made available • Out of scope: dispense information
