  1. Adding QuickTime to PowerPoint • Unfortunately, PowerPoint cannot directly read the latest versions of QuickTime files on Windows machines. • Since you don’t know whether your audience will be using a Windows or Macintosh machine, the best solution is to create a link to the file.

  2. How are you presenting? The best directions for you depend on how you are planning to present your PowerPoint. • If you plan to place your PowerPoint online and have your audience look at it via the Internet, click here. • If you plan to place your PowerPoint on a CD and have your audience look at it on their personal computer, click here.

  3. Online Presentation • Before you create an online link to your QuickTime movie, you should first upload the movie to your web space. You will need the full web address of the movie for these directions. • Make sure you can access your movie using a standard Internet browser before proceeding. • The following slide is a step-by-step process to create an online link for your QuickTime movie.

  4. Online Presentation - Directions • Write the text you want the audience to click on. (e.g. Click Here to See my CT Interview) • Highlight the text with your mouse • Click “Insert” > “Hyperlink” • Click “Existing File or Web Page” • Click “Inserted Links” • Type the full web address (including http://) of your QuickTime movie. • Click OK Here is an example: Click Here to See Monet’s CT Interview Note: The movie will load much faster if you create a web page that embeds the movie within the page. You would then link to that page, not the movie itself. Click here for directions on this topic.

  5. CD Presentation • Before you create a link to your QuickTime movie, be sure that you have placed the movie file exactly where you want it in relation to the PowerPoint file. • For example, my presentation is in the main CD directory, but all of my movies are in a “movies” folder that the presentation itself is not in. The movie needs to be in this folder before you create the link. • The following slide is a step-by-step process to create a CD link for your QuickTime movie.

  6. CD Presentation - Directions • Write the text you want the audience to click on. (e.g. Click Here to See my CT Interview) • Highlight the text with your mouse • Click “Insert” > “Hyperlink” • Click “Existing File or Web Page” • Click “Inserted Links” • Under “Browse For:” click “Files” • Click on your QuickTime file and click OK • Click OK When the text is clicked on, it should open the QuickTime player.
