AFACT - Mission • To support in the Asia Pacific region and its adjacent countries and economies policies and activities, especially those promoted by UN/CEFACT, dedicated to stimulate, improve and promote the ability of business, trade and administrative organizations, to exchange products and relevant services effectively through the simplification and harmonization of processes, procedures and information flows in a non-political environment.

  11. PAA - Mission • To promote and provide secure, trusted, reliable and value-adding IT infrastructure and facilities to enhance seamless trade globally. Combined membership of the parties now exceeds 150,000 organizations, representing almost all active trading enterprises in the Asian market.

  12. PAA – Action/Project • B2B Projects: Commercial Documents Exchange • B2B2G Projects: Automated Manifest / Declaration Service • ECO Project • Global Visibility Project: cross border container tracking between Asia and Europe.

Conclusions • There are 48 countries in Asia. • Very few are transition countries. • So many are developing countries. • Besides building infrastructure, these developing countries strongly need for technical assistance in capacity building issues on ICT, e-commerce, UN/CEFACT recommendations and standards. • Potential exists for cross border projects in Asia pacific using UN/CEFACT tools. This may be taken up in various PDAs.
