  1. Monsters in Society What makes one monster more heinous than another?

  2. Ed Gein Ed was born in 1906. He was known for robbing middle-aged women’s graves, taking their body parts, then creating house hold objects out of the body parts. He made a drawstring for windows out of a pair of lips, a lampshade from skin of a human face, a belt out of nipples, bowls made of human skulls, human skin covering several seat covers, & nine human face masks.

  3. Vlad the Impaler Vlad Dracula lived during the middle of the fifteenth century. As the leader of Wallachia, he used methods of torture (mostly impaling) to scare his enemies. German accounts include Vlad the Impaler razing villages and estimating a total of nearly 100,000 victims from his numerous ways of killing. His reign now serves as the inspiration for modern Dracula.

  4. Westboro Baptist Church WestboroBaptist Church (WBC) is an independent Baptist church known for its radical and extreme views. They have taken a strong stance against homosexuality—saying God is killing our troops today to show His disapproval for acceptance of homosexuality. This group has been known to not only show up at but also to walk into private funerals. They hold up signs of hatred, drag the American flag on the ground, and try to interrupt peaceful way of life. They are bullies and use the bible to preach hate.

  5. John Wayne Gacy Also known as “Pogo the Clown,” Gacy confessed to luring 33 boys and young men into his house in 1978. After torture, sexual assault, and strangling them with a rope, he disposed the dead bodies in a tiny crawl space. He claimed he had multiple personalities, such as “Pogo the Clown” and Jack Hanson. Doctors, however, say he did not have multiple personality disorder. John Wayne Gacy was named the worst serial killer in U.S history. In 1994, he was finally executed.

  6. Money Many would say that money is the center of prosperity, but others say this the true center of greed. Before money was used, it was common for people to trade for items they need. Later people found it difficult to find items to agree on trading, thus money was born. Soon people began to gather as much money as possible, by any means. In our society, having money equals having power. Money can turn friends and even family against each other. People are robbed, and even killed for these little pieces of paper. People scam and mislead others for their own personal gain.

  7. Joseph Kony Joseph Kony was born in Uganda in 1964. Joseph considered himself a Christian, and wanted to make his country a Christian nation as well. In order to do this, Kony created the LRA, or Lord’s Resistance Army, which has been fighting the Ugandan government for quite some time. In order to establish his nation, Kony has abducted an estimated 20,000 children to use as sex slaves or fighters. As part of the children’s initiation process, the children had to kill their parents, so they would have no home to return to. Once apart of the LRA, the children are used as pack mules, carrying supplies until they are too weak or killed. Boys that are kidnapped are sent to the front lines—unarmed—and kidnapped girls that are found attractive by commanding officers become their wives. Even worse, he took disabled children, had their facial features removed, and then forced them to eat their own flesh

  8. The Media The media today is swaying the opinions and judgment of children, teens, and adults in society. Although it may give entertainment and joy to most viewers, it also gives false idols and unreachable expectations to others. The media’s morals are persuading persons to “be different,” even if “different” is showing half your chest and your upper thighs. Even in the men, they have been taught that respect for women isn’t a priority. Internet sites cause useless drama, bullying, and reckless behavior. The media is turning people into their own monsters.

  9. Osama bin Laden Terrorist Founder of al Qaeda Responsible for 3,500 deaths on 9/11 920,000 US military members were killed trying to bring down bin Laden Believes killing innocent civilians is ok if they are near the enemy Believes that if you are not Muslim, then you should die

  10. Susan Smith On October 25, 1994, Smith falsely told police that an African-American man carjacked her vehicle which held her two children inside. For nine days, she adamantly perpetuated this lie. However, she finally cracked and revealed to police that she let her 1990 Mazda roll into a lake, trapping her kids inside. The three-year-old and fourteen-month old undoubtedly died horrific deaths due to drowning. Smith confessed to wanting to discard her kids so she could engage in an affair with a wealthy man who had no interest in children.

  11. U.S. Government Over the course of history, our government has committed some heinous acts. The list in not limited to the following: *The false imprisonment of hundreds of thousands of Japanese in internment camps. *Torture techniques at Abu Gharib and Guantanamo. The government has used water boarding, electrocution, and other forms of torture of detained criminals—many of whom have not seen a trial. *Paying hunters $2 tor each Native American scalp they could get. *Condoning slavery. Enough said. *Dropping Agent Orange in Vietnam (maiming thousands of innocent civilians and our own troops). *Dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

  12. Josef Mengele In 1937 he joined the Nazi Party. After being wounded and declared unfit for combat, he returned to Germany. He began work at Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Anthropology, Human Genetics, and Eugenics. He began his career as a doctor at Auschwitz. He was known “Angel of Death” or “White Angel” because he selected people to go into the gas chambers. He started testing on fraternal twins, dwarves, and giants. He researched ways to increase the German race. His many experiments killed over 400,000 people.
