  2. Tamil University - The Pioneers in Digital Education The iconic and reputed Tamil University was established by the State Government of Tamil Nadu in Thanjavur in the year 1981. With the inception of Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), a new era started at Tamil University. This University is serving as a cultural causeway between Tamil Nadu and people of Tamil origin living outside Tamil Nadu and abroad by conducting research and academic studies. The University offers the postgraduate, graduate, post-graduate diploma and certificate courses in these study areas and has also developed a full-fledged ICT (Information and Communication Technology) enabled cell for online and distance education.

These courses are offered at the graduate, postgraduate and certificate levels Why ICT Tamil University has its own Android app which enables the students to go through the course contents any time they wish. The students can go through the online lectures and videos, can access the course material in the text, P.Pt., and other forms and can also join the discussion forums and boards. Apart from the students and freshers, those who are in jobs can pursue education while being in job roles as well. The studies can be done anywhere and anytime and the students can use their free time to be more productive.

No physical presence or visit to the University campus is required to get admission in the ICT enabled TU courses. The examinations are also conducted online and a student can appear for them at any location ( a computer and an internet connection will be required). Degrees are delivered online as well.
