Who I am? • Professor in urban planning at the « Université de Provence », Aix-en-Provence, France. • As regards my researches or urban studies, since more than 10 years, I invested the theme of the contemporary transformations of the port cities in Europe • On URBACT I, I was one of the thematic experts of the working group SUDEST (Sustainable Devlopement of sea towns).

  3. I - Lead expert ? What roles? • All the URBACT projects have a LEAD EXPERT who will support the project. • Concerning the development phase, the Lead Expert will play a important role : • achieving the baseline study, associating all the partners • providing support to partners in setting up the Local Support Groups (LSG) • providing support to partners for the elaboration of the Final application (definition of issue, outputs, work programme, methodolgy, etc.)

  4. Lead expert will play a major role in the Capitalisation process at Programme Level by contributing to the Thematic Poles’activities

  5. II - Thematic Poles (TP) • TP are the engine of the Capitalisation-Dissemination process at the programme level (new feature of URBACT II). • Thematic Poles intende to : • Allow cross-cutting exchanges and learning between others Urbact projects working on close themes. (methodological or thematic supports) • Foster and organise capitalisation and dissemination at programme level, building on projects’outputs • organise the exchange of knowledge with external programmes working on urban policies.

  6. Members of the TP are : • Pole manager, Lead partner, Lead expert. • Ponctually external experts of others EU’s projects. • URBACT secretariat which coordinates all TP • 3 TP : • TP 1 : Cities engines of growth & job creation (by Paul Soto) • TP 2 : Cities, social inclusion and governance (by Peter Ramsden) • TP 3 : Cities and integrated sustainable development (by Philip Stein) = C.T.U.R.
