  4. Direct Democracy • The people participate directly in the political process, by voting for every single decision vs. Representative Democracy Citizens elect representatives to act on their behalf and are expected to voice the views or wishes of the voters

  6. How we elect politicians? • Riding – an area containing 100, 000 people • Each represented by a member of parliament • Canadians vote for a MP in 308 ridings across Canada
