Summaries • When do we summarize? • Think of as many different types of spoken and written summaries as you can. • movie trailer; review • book blurb (on back of book; on website) • death notice/article of famous person • newscast • news headlines • lecture notes • business proposals! • What info would each give?

  3. #9 • Check! • Email format • Greeting • 1st paragraph: name; what sell: dolls (price here?), coffee, treats, photos, photo exhibition; sell to who? • 2nd paragraph: marketing strategy • 3rd paragraph: investment, return, discount • Closing: If you have any further questions, please let me know. • Name Concise? Tenses?

Brochure • in P’s Check the real brochure for: • Audience: • Info: • What, where, when, how much, transportation, activities, costs, age/interest groups? • Images: balance? • Tone: • Grammar spelling • Now check your 1st draft for the same! • How can you improve it? Your opinion of it? • Present to other pair

  5. Links/Tips • Microsoft Word • Google Docs • Print out in color on folded B-2 or A-3 size? • Regular paper is OK • Give clear, concise, grammatically correct information in an attractive way. • The production value is not important (expensive paper, professionally printed etc) • >W5,000

  6. Email #10..finally!! • Read the questions first. • Read the business proposal and take a few notes. • Now read it again and begin to think of your opinion of this proposal.

  7. HW • Final draft of #9…in class on Thursday. • Read business proposal for #10 and write solid answers to the questions • Choose a brochure format from Word or Google docs and think about your design.
