  1. Mohave High School Clubs & Activities How can YOU be involved on campus and make the most out of your time in high school?

  2. Elective Classes The following groups are all elective classes that you attend every day and receive a grade for as well as participate in and compete outside of school hours.

  3. Student Council • Advisor: Mr. Mitchell, E-101 • Meets: 3rd period • What we do: StuCo is the student-run government that manages on campus clubs, activities, fundraisers, and plans and puts on school activities such as pep rallies, dances and spirit weeks & activities.

  4. Yearbook • Advisor: Miss Hamilton, C-111 • What we do: the yearbook class plans and creates the school yearbook. We cover everything from photography at all events around campus to writing stories and captions to layout and graphic design to selling and promoting the yearbook.

  5. Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) • Advisors: Lt. Col. Boyle and Chief Starkey, E-108 • Meets: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 6th periods • What we do: AFJROTC is a unique training program that not only prepares cadets for careers in the military, but also to be successful in any field of work outside of school. We also have clubs such as the honor guard, drill team, Kitty Hawk, orienteering and rocket models available to our cadets. • Core class credit: Ninety percent of the cadets receive core class credit—PE credit for the first year and science credits for the 2nd and 3rd years.

  6. Mohave Thunder Band & Guard • Director: Mrs. Ribelin, M-101 • Meets: 1st period • What we do: This is the school marching band & colorguard. We perform at all home football half-times, pep rallies, parades and even travel to competitions.

  7. Mohave High Singers • Director: Mrs. Wilhelm, M-102 • Soul FAZE Xtra will meet Friday mornings at 7:30 am.  All young men who like to sing are welcome.  No audition required! • Concert Choir: Mixed, auditioned chorus • Soul Faze: Men's Ensemble • Treble Glee:  Girls chorus • Rhapsody:  Women's auditioned madrigal group. • Mystic Rhythm: Mixed auditioned Jazz/Show Choir

  8. CTE (Career & Technology Education) based clubs The following clubs are for those who are taking the respective CTE class at Mohave. Students in these clubs travel to competitions around the state and compete with skills they learn in their respective CTE classes.

  9. SKILLS USA • Advisors: Mr. Fischer, Mr. Stickel, Mr. Terrell, Mr. Olvera • This is a general club that pulls the best students from the technology based classes (graphic arts, photography, info tech & software development, business operations, construction, etc) to compete in state-wide competitions.

  10. Mohave HS Police Explorer Post • Advisors: Mr. Sullivan • We will try to meet on either every first and third Monday or Wednesday in room T-113 • Students will be trained just like police explorers, and assist schools, service groups, and the community as extra man power for special events.  Students will be trained in all areas of police work including radio procedures, traffic control, vehicle car stops, and arrest procedures.

  13. FCCLA Early Childhood Education– Family, Career & Community Leaders of America • Advisor: Mrs. Leyendecker, I-107 • CTE class: Child Development

  14. HOSA – Health Occupations Students of America • Advisor: Mrs. S. Patterson, T-221 • CTE class: Allied Health • HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for our high school students who are enrolled in the Allied Health Science Education classes.  HOSA is 100% health care.  Our mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to strengthen the partnership between health science education and community health care industries.

  16. Clubs The following groups are clubs on campus. A few groups may be associated with elective classes, however, you may join the club without being enrolled in the class.

  17. Drama • Advisor: Mrs. Garner, B-108 • Meets: Tuesdays after school • What we do: the drama clubs puts on the fall play and spring musical every year. While we draw from the drama classes 3rd and 6th hour, all students are invited to participate in the club and audition for our productions!

  18. Interact • Advisor: Mrs. Buus and Miss Cornia, T-124 • Meets: Wednesday during zero hour • What we do: We are an international organization of service that participates in fun and meaningful projects that better our school, our community, and communities around the world. While doing this, Interactors develop leadership skills and initiative, while meeting new friends.

Key Club • Advisor: Ms. Bostelman, T-123 • Meets: Wednesdays during zero hour • What we do: We are a community service based organization that works closely with the Kiwanis Morning Club here in Bullhead. We participate in and host events around campus and throughout Bullhead City. Highlights include our Special Needs Prom, and working at the Colorado River Nature Center.

  20. Speech & Debate • Advisor: Mrs. Rhue, T-203 • Meets: Thursdays after school • What we do: Students compete in individual events (dramatic and humorous interpretation, impromptu speaking, poetry, and more) and in debate events (moral debate or current event debate). Students learn public speaking skills, the art of good research and creating an effective argument, and how to express themselves creatively. • Speech and Debate is also offered as an elective class!!

  21. Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) • Advisor: Mrs. Rhue, T-203 • Meets: Wednesdays during lunch • What we do: Through sponsored events, SADD creates community awareness of issues and encourages students to make wise decisions in their lives.

  22. National Honor Society • Advisors: Mr. Evins, E-103 & Mrs. Glaser, B-108 • Meets: Zero hour on Thursday’s • What we do: This is a national organization that only the top students at Mohave qualify for. Students may apply for the first time the 2nd semester of their Sophomore year. We seek to encourage and give a place for our members to exhibit leadership, community service, academic excellence and consistent character.

  23. Crown of Thorns Christian Club • Advisor: Mr. Evins, E-103 • Meets: Thursdays during lunch • What we do: We are Mohave’s Christian Club. Our goals is to have a positive impact at Mohave and to encourage each other to live a moral and respectful life. Our meetings are filled with great fellowship, fun music and a challenge from God’s Word. It’s a club to be a part of.

  24. Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) • Advisor: Mr. Bailey, T-117 • Meets: Wednesdays after school • What we do: we are a social activism group with the goal of providing support to our LGBT (gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, and their straight allies) students and putting an end to bullying and discrimination here at Mohave.

  25. Mathletes • Advisor: Mrs. Sloan, T-201 • Meets: Tuesdays during lunch • What we do: explore the limits of how fun math can be! We support academics by fundraising for the AP Calculus test to support the MHS seniors. We will be competing in competitions as well as planning our field trip to Disneyland. We hope to discover the physics of motion within Disneyland's Magic Kingdom.

  26. Fencing • Advisors: Mr. Greene, B-105 & Mrs. Johnson, T-204 • Meets: every other Saturday 9-12 in the old gym • What we do: learn and explore the art of fencing using the traditional weapons of foil, epee and sabre.

  31. Yoga Club • Advisory: Mrs. Sloan • Meets: Thursdays at 7am in the Wrestling room • What we do: Enjoy all the benefits of yoga. Yoga is an ancient practice that helps create a sense of union in body, mind, and spirit. We learn to release stress, visualize our goals, and bring balance back into our lives.

  34. Football • Coach: Coach Holmes • Room- E-102 • Season: Fall • Official practice began for sophomores, juniors and seniors on July 28th. Practices are from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM. • Freshman practice begins August 4th. Practices will be from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. • You must have completed the physical packet before you are issued any equipment.

  35. Volleyball • Coach: Coach Z • Season: Fall • Tryouts will start Monday (August 11th) after school in the new gym and will run Monday-Thursday that week. • You must have your physical and brain book (concussion) test done to be able to try out.

  36. Cross Country • Coach: Mr. Bailey • Season: Fall • Cross Country is fun environment that truly allows you to test your toughness, and is great conditioning for other sports. Come be a part of a Mohave Cross Country tradition. For more information see Mr. Bailey in T-117

  37. Golf • Coach: Mr. Miller • Season: Fall • Golf is a lifetime sport everyone can play. • Practice starts in Room t-206 Aug. 11th • Have physicals before Practice starts

  38. Cheer • Coach: Mrs. King & Mrs. Pagel • Season: Fall & Winter • Tryouts this year are August 5th, 6th, and 7th from 3:30-5:30 in the old gym. • Practice times are every Tuesday and Thursday and the second Wednesday of every month from 3:30-5:30 in the old gym. • The cost is $125 for Varsity and $70 for JV

  39. Swim • Coach: Mr. Catalfamo • Season: Fall • Sign-Ups are Monday, August 12th from 3:30-5 PM at the community pool (on Trane). • Bring a swim suit (girls- one piece only), goggles, a towel and water and come have fun!

  40. Wrestling • Coach: Mr. Alec Horne • Season: Winter

  41. Basketball (Boys & Girls) • Coach: Mr. Thomas (Boys) & Mr. Ryan Walker (Girls) • Season: Winter

  42. Soccer (Boys & Girls) • Coach: Mr. Guerrero (Boys) & Mr. Burgess (Girls) • Season: Winter • There is indoor soccer on Fridays 6-8PM in the old gym.

  43. Track & Field • Coach: Mr. Andreas • Season: Track is a spring sport with an event for everybody. We need Sprinters, Jumpers, Thowers, Distance Runners and Pole Vaulters. It is a great way to improve your reaction time, speed, vertical, and overall conditioning.

  45. Softball • Coach: Mrs. S. Patterson • Season: Spring • The Lady Thunderbirds softball program is based on developing tradition and success.  Being a part of the high school softball experience is a demanding chore that requires the commitment of time, hard work, and patience.  Our program is an extension of the high school experience.  It is meant to be challenging and fun all while building lifelong memories.  Join us!!  Lady T-Bird Pride!!
