  1. Goodwill FellowshipBible Study Group Happy New Year 2010 “Armageddon”Welcome

  2. What is Armageddon? Armageddon is actually a battle. According to the Bible it’s the battle where God finally comes in and takes over the world and rules it the way it should have been ruled all along. After Armageddon comes 1000 years of peace and prosperity.

  3. The word Armageddon appears only once in the New Testament.  Revelation 16:16: "And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon”.

  4. The word comes from Hebrew har məgiddô  meaning "Mountain of Megiddo". Megiddo was the location of many decisive battles in ancient times The town Megiddo is approximately 25 miles west of the southern tip of the Sea of Galilee (or Lake Tiberias to the Romans) in the Kishon River area.

  5. Meggido is one of the most important archaeological mounds in Israel. Tel Megiddo contains the remains of historic Megiddo, a fortified city that sat strategically on the ancient trunk road from Egypt to Syria and Mesopotamia. Megiddo has served as an important junction and battlefield throughout history. It is mentioned in an Egyptian document over 3,500 years old, was one of the chariot cities of Kings Solomon and Ahab, and was the site where Josiah, King of Judah, fell in battle. In 1918 the British defeated the Turks here and in 1948, during the War of Independence, the Israelis overcame invading Arabs forces at nearby Mishmar Haemek.

  6. What will happen during Armageddon? Revelation 16:18-22 18) Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake.  19) The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.  20) Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.  21) From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

  7. Why Armageddon? Revelation 13:16-18 16) He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,  17) so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.  18) This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

  8. The number of the beast is 666 Rosenbach Museum, Philadelphia

  10. Warning Revelation 14:9-12 9)"If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand,  10) he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.  11) And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name."  12) This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.

  11. Will this really happen? History has proven the unerring accuracy of Bible prophecy. Many secular events were foretold hundreds of years before they happened. Literally hundreds of prophecies in the Bible have already come to pass. So there's really no doubt about whether the prophecies dealing with the "Last Days" and the time preceding Jesus' coming and Armageddon will come to pass. The only question is when?

  12. Islam Muslims believe that the Islamic ProphetMuhammad prophesied several events to occur just before the advent of the Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyamah). Al Messieh Al Dajaal (the Antichrist) will fool people into believing that he is God and ask people to worship him. True believers will reject him but will not be able to defeat him on their own. God will then send the Messiah to earth to fight the Antichrist in the battle of Armageddon, and he will defeat the unlawful Messiah and his followers.

  14. Second coming of Jesus What does Jesus tells us? Mark 13:5-8 5 Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you.  6 Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

  15. Revelation 22:20 (NIV) 20 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. Mark 13:24-27 24 "But in those days, following that distress,    " 'the sun will be darkened,       and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars will fall from the sky,       and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.‘ 26 "At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.  27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.

  16. The Day and Hour Unknown Matthew 24:36-37 (NIV) 36"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

  17. Many people make money out of it. Why is the delay even after 2000 years? 2 Peter 3:8 (NIV) 8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day Mark 13:10 (NIV) 10 And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

  18. Get Prepared The best way to be prepared for the future is to receive Jesus as your Savior, as He has promised to be with His children to protect & provide for them and be their Guide through perilous times. Jesus will give you the strength and courage to bravely face these future troubles and help you survive until the End of this world, after which He will reward you beyond your wildest dreams in the Heavenly world to come!

  19. Promise of Jesus Matthew 28:20 (NIV) And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Amen, Hallelujah!.
