IMPRESSIONS • Conference objectives met • Issues (network connection, VC) fixed in due time • EC presence very much acknowledged • EELA organization on the rails (thanks to WP1 team) • Demos as a proof that we actually have an EELA e-Infrastructure (thanks to WP2 team) • EELA as part of the EGEE production infrastructure • EELA applications took-off (thanks to WP3 team) • Dissemination and Knowledge Dissemination “aggressive” plans and impressive results (thanks to WP4 team)

IMPRESSIONS • Important key words often heard • Grid • Human network • Training • Dissemination • Interoperation/Interoperability (EELA - EGEE as a good example) • synergy • Applications (Biomed leading the file !!!!!!) • Sister projects “love” EELA (thanks to this conference) • “non-EELA” applications willing to become EELA applications (thanks to this conference) • “non-EELA” institutions willing to become EELA partners (thanks to this conference) • A new “dimension” appeared in the GRID space: the Instrument Element (cf. GRIDCC)

  8. EELA - EC VC • Held on 05/09/06 • Very positive impression • EC congratulation for the good job • EC recommendation • DISSEMINATE AND TRAIN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE !!! • LOOK FOR, AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, NEW APPLICATIONS/PARTNERS !!! • EELA SHOULD TRIGGER AND ATTRACT !!!

  10. MISSING KEY WORDS • Self sustainability: EELAn after/without EC support? • GRID@UNIVERSITY (undergraduate courses)? • EELA 2 should • Focus on strategic research areas (cf. Baltic Grid)? • Focus, also, on INDUSTRY? • Focus on applications with more social impact • biomed, health, climate vs HEP? • Be different from EELA (cf. SEEGRID 2 vs SEEGRID)

  11. NETWORK MATTERS • No network …… no Grid ….. No EELA !!! • Tough battles against ??? foreseen with, hopefully, the help of IST !!! • LA NRENs and of GRID community MUST help CLARA!!! • Long term: will LA governments be able to “smoothly” replace EC ???
