  2. Wild Fig: The Restaurant Greek restaurant with various locations throughout Long Island, New York Syosset location opened in 2008 Current database keeping track of inventory is written by hand Only technology used is transferring restaurant orders to the kitchen to be prepared for customers
  3. The Issues Don’t always have the proper inventory Can’t recognize which waiters provide poor service Much leftover food that goes to waste on a weekly basis Issues can create a high level of customer turnover
  4. Reasons for a New System Can greatly increase restaurant’s revenue while cutting expenses as well Greatly improve customer relations and making a more pleasant working environment More organized working environment
  5. New Database System Switch from a handwritten database to a new computerized Microsoft Access database The New System will: Keep track of which waiter serves each table Account for every customer who enters the restaurant, and what their order is Hold information on each customer Help in keeping the perfect amount of inventory in stock
  6. How it’s Used When a customer enters the restaurant, their information will be looked up to make sure we have their favorite orders in stock Everything that the customer orders will continue to be added to the database Customers feedback on their server for the meal will also be added to the database With each visit to the restaurant, we will continue to gain more information on each customer
  7. Reward System The database will have record of each time a customer has eaten at Wild Fig Frequent customers will be rewarded for their numerous visits to the restaurant (point system) Will be able to look at the database and reward customers by determining how frequent they are a visitor to the restaurant On special occasions (birthday, anniversary) customers with a reward card will receive a free entree
  8. New Database System Effect on Employees: Both Positive and Negative feedback will be taken on each waiter Each waiter will now be more concerned with their performance, knowing they receive feedback from the customer Employee’s effort will increase, which will lead to an increase in their productivity
  9. New Database System Effect on Customers: Records of previous orders will be saved within the new database We will know exactly how much inventory we need in order to keep our customers satisfied Customer satisfaction will increase, which will lead to a major increase in the restaurant’s profit
  10. Database Design Database begins on the main switchboard Allows user access to all reports and forms Easy to use, even for employees who are not great with technologically Includes intuitive buttons which can help the user navigate throughout the database
  11. Effects of Database Will gain the knowledge of how much of each product to purchase No longer a large waste of unused food products Less confusion throughout the restaurant due to everything being neat on an Access database
