PNEUMONIA Article 1 for Development Community every breath counts • The highly appealing, and simple to use multi-media kits are freely available to anyone working in the fight to reduce childhood deaths from pneumonia. The frontline health worker kit contains everything you need to run an engaging and informative training program - including videos, tests and follow-up materials. The caregiver kit will help you arm your health workers with an attractively illustrated story and other materials so they can easily educate their communities about pneumonia. The kits are available in different languages, regional/cultural variations (African, African Muslim and South Asian) and can be further adapted to suit local needs. New resources have just been launched that help in the fight against this killer disease to help educate caregivers and frontline workers about the signs and symptoms of pneumonia and what needs to be done. This allows organisations to more quickly activate programs at a much lower cost- because when it comes to pneumonia we know that Every Second Counts. PNEUMONIA Article 2 for General Population every breath counts When it comes to Pneumonia - Every Second Counts Up to 935,000 children are dying from pneumonia each year Too many children are dying every day from pneumonia, when most of these deaths can be prevented. Pneumonia is the leading infectious killer of children under 5, and the vast majority of these deaths occur in developing countries where resources are limited. Quick care seeking from parents and correct diagnosis from frontline health workers are the first steps in preventing these deaths. That’s why new pneumonia communication and training kits have been developed to help educate caregivers and frontline health workers so that they can be armed with the knowledge and skills needed to save lives. Specifically, the multi-media kits are designed to help these audiences to recognise the signs and symptoms of pneumonia and take the appropriate action. The multi-media kits are simple to use and freely available to anyone—charities manufacturers, governments—working in the fight to reduce childhood deaths from pneumonia. The kits are available in different regional/cultural variations, languages, and can be further adapted to suit local needs. This allows organisations to activate programs at a much lower cost and more quickly - because when it comes to pneumonia - Every Second Counts. 4. PNEUMONIA every breath counts QUICK TIPS The following posts have been crafted to assist in increasing the uptake and promoting of the new Pneumonia Education Program materials. For Twitter and Facebook, select an image from the accompanying folder to publish alongside the post. The suggested images are listed below and correspond to the image identifier (either a number or word and the corresponding ethnicity, for example Image 1_African.jpg ) There are two sets of images: African and Asian. Choose the images that represent your country best. Adding an image and caption in Twitter: Type your Tweet into the box at the top of your Home timeline. Click Add media and choose an image from your gallery.  Once the image is selected, you will see a thumbnail image (or file name) appear as an attachment. You can select up to 4 images to tweet at once.  Adding an image and caption in Facebook: Navigate to your News Feed. Above the status update bar, there should be the option "Add Photos/Video." Select it. Select Upload Photo/Video. Here, you'll have the option to click "Upload Photo/Video" or "Create Photo Album." Find the picture file on your hard drive and select it. A finder window should pop up, allowing you to search your hard drive for the photos. Your photo will have to be uploaded to your computer before you can do this step. If you choose to, you may add a tag to your pictures. Just go to the photo, and select "Tag This Photo" right below your picture. Click somewhere on your picture, choose a person, then click "Tag." Select "Done Tagging" when you are finished. To add a caption, click the pencil below your photo. Insert the suggested corresponding post.
