  2. Where did he do most of his work? • Switzerland

  3. What was their main issue with the Catholic Church? • They weren’t in harmony with the Christian practices found in the new testament • Criticized the Catholic traditions • They abused their power to gain wealth

  4. What did they do to fix what they saw as being wrong about the Church? • He began preaching against the Catholic Church and condemning them • He began preaching sermons directly from the bible, no longer following officially prepared homilies

  5. Did Ulrich Zwingli directly affect any modern religious group? • He affected the Presbyterian Church

How did Ulrich Zwingli say worship ought to be? • Bible is the truth and anything not in the bible isn’t the truth • In 1524 pictures, relics and statues were removed from the city’s churches • At a debate about the Last Supper Luther said Christ is literally present in the bread and wine, Zwingli argued that they just held a symbolic mean

  7. Two Interesting Facts: • He tried to set up an alliance with Luther but they couldn’t agree on basic theology • Zwingli was killed in the battle when the Swiss lost to the Roman Catholic Church in a sudden surprise attack
