  6. Course Reserves The Course Reserves function is used for high-usage materials needed for course assignments. These items usually have short loan periods (e.g., two hours). When a record is placed on reserve, any or all of the following actions may be taken: Change its location to a special library location (e.g., a "reserve book room"). Associate the record with one or more courses so it can be retrieved by course or instructor name. For items, modify the item type so that the loan rules under which the item circulates are changed.
